First of all, I really did like the Finale. Very touching. I love that the "alternate reality" was really a spiritual meeting place some time after they had all passed away. Some died young. Some may have lived long healthy lives. Who knows.
My thoughts on the series: Everything on the island really did happen. It was not purgatory. How else could people die? How else could the Oceanic 6 rejoin civilization and return to the island 3 years later? Dharma Initiative, the Others, Widmore, etc. No way was that all a dream world.
My only nagging question(and it's a big one) is why was Jacob so powerful, yet he was killed so easily by Ben Linus? He had the power to appear and disappear. He also had the ability to meet the castaways long before they ever boarded they're doomed flight, yet he was just flesh and blood. How could he leave the island at will?
I've reached the conclusion that Jacob was just using people in his sibling rivalry against his brother Smokey. That's the only way those rules make any sense to me. It's just a game to them. Jacob is just trying to get the best of his brother and vice versa.
What do you guys think?

Watching: Lost season 5
The question is how could Jacob leave the island and visit the castaways before they ever crashed. The answer is (drum roll)...THE WHEEL. The same wheel that Ben used to move the island. Locke (before he died) used it to leave the island and it opened a portal to Tunisia.
Feels good to have some resolution.
All in all a good ending for the 6 years, not great but good.
sounds interesting.
But I loved it... and I want a full length novel about Hurley's entire life and I will be satisfied!
