First of all, I really did like the Finale.  Very touching.  I love that the "alternate reality" was really a spiritual meeting place some time after they had all passed away.  Some died young.  Some may have lived long healthy lives.  Who knows.

My thoughts on the series:  Everything on the island really did happen.  It was not purgatory.  How else could people die?  How else could the Oceanic 6 rejoin civilization and return to the island 3 years later?  Dharma Initiative, the Others, Widmore, etc.  No way was that all a dream world.

My only nagging question(and it's a big one) is why was Jacob so powerful, yet he was killed so easily by Ben Linus?  He had the power to appear and disappear.  He also had the ability to meet the castaways long before they ever boarded they're doomed flight, yet he was just flesh and blood.  How could he leave the island at will?

I've reached the conclusion that Jacob was just using people in his sibling rivalry against his brother Smokey.  That's the only way those rules make any sense to me.  It's just a game to them.  Jacob is just trying to get the best of his brother and vice versa.

What do you guys think?

I still say the island is some kind of Atlantis/Bermuda Triangle thing.

Okay. I've been going through season 5, and one of my nagging questions has been answered. When I asked other people they couldn't remember the answer either.

The question is how could Jacob leave the island and visit the castaways before they ever crashed. The answer is (drum roll)...THE WHEEL. The same wheel that Ben used to move the island. Locke (before he died) used it to leave the island and it opened a portal to Tunisia.

Feels good to have some resolution.

Since I'm not a spiritual/religious person I am very disappointed with the conclusion of the "alternate timeline" which was actually religious limbo. I very much liked everything that was happening in reality though, i.e. on the island.

All in all a good ending for the 6 years, not great but good.

I also loved the ending. I missed Michael and Walt though and just a little of why Eloise Hawkings always knew SO MUCH about the island, being a ex-Other is not enough.

Loved it! I can live without all the answers because even living a full life you'll never officially know what "Everything" means. We all die with unresolved issues etc... The show tackled some of the toughest spiritual, metaphysical, and philosophical questions out there and told the best damn story I could have ever imagined. I don't think everything about the show was perfect but it got pretty damn close in my book

i also like the end. but also the Smokey in the others seasons only kill people and whit he don scape in one of the many times submarines come to the island. and in the last season. smokey said he don't want new people in the island because allways happend the same. but he need people to get out. Juliet said to ''enos'' said sawyer that it works. so i believe the Alternate reality first was a Paralel universe and latter transform in purgatory. i think they rush the end and change things to finish it.

Sounds about right. I view it now all as the story of Jack. His story was totally told. Everyone else was an aside.
But I loved it... and I want a full length novel about Hurley's entire life and I will be satisfied!

pretty much anything involving the island they kind of left up in the air. i'm thinking they will do a prequel type thing or animated something to explain some things/ make money off of
